Ernie Hollands Prison Outreach

Ernie Holland's book of his life story, "Captured To Be Free" was given to the prisons in Ukraine as well as to  prisons around the world. The book is the true life story of Ernie Hollands, how he fought verbal and physical abuse mixed with alcohol. Stealing became a way of life for him. Ernie's life was filled with robberies, jail, beatings and escapes. Ernie would spend a combined sentence of 25 years in different prisons across Canada and the U.S.A., because of theft, bank robberies, and 5 escapes from prison. He was sentenced to prison for an attempted murder of a police officer.

Master's in partnership with Ernie Hollands visited the prisons in Ukraine as Ukraine had a special place in Ernie's heart as he made several trips to prisons in Ukraine.  He was given opportunities to speak and hand out his book.  Many accepted Christ as their savior as a result of this. Ernie is no longer with us but his story lives on.  Although Ernie had a special burden for the prisoners in Ukraine, he also did for Russian prisoners and prisoners throughout the world as he travelled speaking to them..  It did not matter what country they were from or who they were Ernie s goal was to share his life story and how God had changed him and could change them.

The information below is from a project designed to raise funds to distribute Ernie's book.

(This project has been completed)

Russia has one of the highest prison population rates in the world with official statistics at 244,000 inmates.  Unofficially, estimates are over 800,000.  Russia jails a greater proportion of its people than any other major country apart from the USA.

The Soviet prison system known as the Gulag disappeared with the collapse of the Soviet Union, but evidence has emerged of renewed prison brutality in today's Russia. Conditions are harsh. There are horrifying and appalling tales of life inside Russia's dilapidated and overcrowded prison system. There are credible reports of beating and torture of criminals and political prisoners alike suffering merciless beatings, forced labor and lack of medical care.

The more I read about the prisons of Russia, the greater the burden came for their souls and plight. As a result the Lord impressed us to reach these people with the glorious news of His love and salvation.

As a result Masters is publishing in the Russian language Ernie Holland's book of his life story, "Captured To Be Free".

While in prison a sports store owner came to visit Ernie and told him that only God can change his life and encouraged Ernie to accept Jesus Christ into his life. While in his prison cell, Ernie gave his heart and life to Christ and literally saw Jesus come into his cell and say to him, Ernie, “I am so glad you didn't kill that police officer. Your slate is now wiped clean”.

God then used Ernie to tell his story of hope to thousands of prisoners around the world.

WE NOW WANT ALL PRISONERS IN RUSSIA TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME FREEDOM AND LIBERTY ERNIE FOUND IN CHRIST. (Ernie Hollands Interview in Russian)

Our goal is to publish 100,000 copies of Ernie's book and distribute it to the prisons in Russia.  Here is a video of a recent prison outreach in Russia by missionaries Ilya & Janet Bantseev.

Will you, our partners join hands in prayer and support for this massive outreach?

The cost of printing 100,000 books is .35 cents per copy for a total of $35,000.

(For just the price of a cup of coffee, 4 incarcerated men will have an opportunity to hear the wonderful news of God's love and salvation.)
